FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE - November 21st, 2022
On Thursday, November 10, 2022, KLA Schools of Naperville West held their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. At 4:30 pm, the honorable mayor of Naperville, Steve Cherico, and the Chamber of Commerce joined Selvei Rajkumar, her family, team, and numerous supporters in cutting the business ribbon. Mayor Chirico said, “The only thing he likes better than a new business coming to Naperville is a business that is expanding and opening new locations.”
As a resident of the City of Naperville for over 25 years, Selvei Rajkumar and her family are extremely grateful for the community's support. KLA Schools of Naperville West, located behind Costco at Route 59 and 75th street, is the third school Selvei has opened in the area. The first school opened nine years ago in Plainfield, IL, and the second opened three years ago in north Naperville, IL.
Selvei shared with the community how excited she and her team are to open another location in the Naperville area. During her very thoughtful speech, Selvei stated, “Studies say every child needs at least one champion who believes in them to be successful. I am fortunate and grateful to many of you for being our champions, believing in our vision, and helping accomplish our dreams.” She then went on to thank all the people who helped her with this enormous project, from her team, to the builders, to the City of Naperville, to the dedicated and passionate teaching team, and of course, all of our KLA parents!
Kelly Collins, KLA Schools of Naperville West School Principal, said, “Without the support of the community, families, and the teamwork of our teachers and staff, KLA Schools of Naperville West would be an idea rather than a reality!”
Selvei’s dream to open a school that would one day emphasize the whole child's development became a reality for the first time over nine years ago. Executive Director, Erica Koegel, said, “I first met Selvei in 2013 when she shared her vision with me of what she wanted for KLA Schools of Plainfield. When we first opened our doors in 2013 no one in our community was aware of KLA, and I knew that would be a challenge. However, families and educators believed in the vision, and our KLA Schools of Plainfield continued to grow.” Selvei’s passion, coupled with the KLA Franchise Team, and the support of the families and educators, has now led to the successful construction of three schools that embrace the Reggio Emilia philosophy, considered to be the best in the world for Early Childhood Education. During her speech at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Erica stated, “It is a humbling moment to realize that the community is aware of the positive impact our program has and the traces we are leaving within the surrounding communities.”
At KLA Schools, parents are enthusiastic supporters and contributors to their children’s education. Selvei says, “There are three teachers in a child’s life: the parents, the classroom teacher, and the environment.” Within our school, parents are highly involved and have many opportunities to participate in their child’s learning journey and can support the program in many ways, such as guest speaking, donations, and volunteering their time.
KLA believes that communication with families is integral to the program's success. They offer a parent portal for daily, weekly, and monthly communication about school events and gatherings. In addition, parents receive personalized reports that provide a general overview of what the class has done that day.
Carrie Hemmer, Director of Admissions, mentions that KLA Schools offers a variety of unique benefits, one of which is their extracurricular and enrichment programs. “These programs are an ideal way for your child to broaden their horizons and learn more about the world that surrounds them daily.” KLA Schools of Naperville West’s unique enrichment programs include Mindfulness, Spanish, Music, Martial Arts, and Innovative Computing. The KLA Schools of Naperville and Plainfield team prides itself on its core values. Selvei Rajkumar states, “We place high importance on integrity and accountability in all we do. We always put children first, remain positive, passionate, and committed to teamwork, and allow every child to reach his or her fullest potential.”
KLA Schools of Naperville, Naperville West, and Plainfield have open enrollment and offer personalized virtual and in-person Saturday visits by appointment. Please contact Carrie Hemmer, our admissions director, to schedule a visit to the schools.
