Unique Spaces

Inside Our Schools

Our schools are intentionally designed with safety and function in mind. Each school features unique and modern shared spaces and spacious, welcoming classrooms. Wide corridors and large windows flood each area with natural light, and abundant plants, natural materials, and soft colors inspire a sense of warmth and tranquility.

Atelier

Our Atelier (French for “art studio” or “workshop”) welcomes children to an inspiring array of natural and human-made materials visually available to explore. Individually or in small groups, all our children encounter experiences with the various media that progressively support all their languages of expression. The atelier’s clay, paper, fabric, wire, light, beads, shells, leaves, wood, and other materials offer the children endless possibilities in early exploration of the visual arts.

Our Classrooms

We fill our spacious, organized, and aesthetically beautiful classrooms with an abundance of natural, recycled, and open-ended materials ready for the children to manipulate and explore. The environment—the third teacher in the children’s lives—reflects designed intention and purpose in every space. The classroom beams with life, and the children’s traces stream in evidence all around.

Engaging Outdoor Spaces

Children express themselves physically and cultivate social relationships in inspiring and inviting outdoor spaces that are integrated into the curriculum of each classroom. In addition to free play, our physical education lessons provide ample opportunity for the development of gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, healthy habits, and teamwork.

Teacher Workspaces

Education always evolves, and our teachers embrace growth. Continual professional development enables us to collaborate on various topics to enrich our knowledge about the Reggio Emilia approach. Teachers compare notes and observations in team planning sessions to decide which projects best suit the children, what materials to include, and how parents can be involved.

Piazza

We have arranged the classrooms of our school around a central meeting place, or piazza. The piazza—the heartbeat of our school—facilitates gathering to read together, display artwork, or share experiences with friends in other classes. Our families love catching-up with one another at the end of the day in the piazza, where we also hold many of our family events.

Safe and inviting from the start

We keep our school safe and secure by intentional design. Protective fences, locked doors, and restricted access to only parents and registered, identified guests protect our children. Staff members are trained in pediatric first aid and CPR, and they are always ready and available to respond to emergency situations. Along with safety, cleanliness receives a top priority, and we pride ourselves on the upkeep of our facility, both inside and out. KLA Schools follows infectious disease protocol set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

KLA Plus & School-Age Space

In order for children to develop their talents and interests they must be able to try new things. Our KLA Plus classroom is filled with music, dance, art, and technology and also provides a quiet, cozy place for elementary aged children in our before and after school program to work on homework, read or spend time with friends after the end of the school day.
